Spring steels have the ability to withstand twisting and bending within elastic limit without becoming permanently distorted due to its high yield stregth chracteristic. The higher elastic limit can be achieved by the addition of some alloy elements such as silicon, manganese, chrome, vanadium, molybdenum and nickel. Spring steels are commonly used in the production of automotive and industrial components such as suspension springs, vehicle coil springs and small aircraft landing gear.
