To achieve improved size tolerance, surface quality and mechanical properties, cold drawn process is applied on hot rolled products. For production efficiency, small sizes are usually produced from wire rod whereas bigger sizes are usually produced from hot rolled bar products.

The first step of cold drawn process is shot blasting where surface scales on hot rolled products are removed using iron particles. The shot blasted hot rolled products then pass through cold drawing die to get their final size. Depending on the steel grade of the product, it is common to apply some kind of heat treatment on hot rolled products before cold drawing.

Our cold drawn production facility consists of wire to bar and bar to bar cold drawn lines for round, square, flat and hexagonal products in both mm and inch sizes. Thanks to descaler at out rolling mill, we can achieve superior surface quality on our cold drawn bar products. Besides, round, square and hexagonal, we can also offer non standard cold drawn flat sizes thanks to our adjustable die.

Cold Drawn Production Size Range
Section Size (mm) Standard
Round 5 - 85 EN 10278 h9-h11
Square 6x6-80x80 EN 10278 h11
Flat 20x5-150x30 EN 10278 h11
Hexagonal 10-70 EN 10278 h11

The removal of surface scales on hot rolled products by using iron particles. It is an important process to improve surface quality.

Shot Blasting

An integrated setting where shot blasting, cold drawning die, straightening, cutting and polishing are on the same line.

Coil to Bar Machine

A process in which shot blasted hot rolled product passes through cold drawing die to obtain its final size.

Bar to Bar Cold Drawn

An essential step to remove any straightness issue caused by cold drawing process.

Straightening

Chamfering is used for cutting away excess metal parts to produce a symmetrical sloping edge to be used for specific applications. Chamfering for one or both ends are available at our factory. Chamfering size range for round and hexagonal bars are 10-80mm and 10-36mm respectively.

Chamfering

To protect cold drawn bars against rust, protective oil is applied on all cold drawn products. Additionally, to avoid chemical reaction between metal strap and cold drawn product, we put VCI jute paper in between.

Protective Oil Against Rust

Instead of standard jute paper, we use VCI jute paper to wrap cold drawn products which provides additional protection against rust. For container loading, silicon gels are put inside the container to prevent the formation of moisture.
